Hello, and welcome! My name is Wyatt and I am the founder of LegacyLink. This project started when I became affiliated with the USGenWeb project. I have always had a passion for genealogy research, but I have never had a platform to present and share my work with the genealogy community. I regard sites like the ones hosted by LegacyLink as immensely important. I know it is easy to ask yourself things, like "wouldn't it be easier to just use Ancestry or Facebook?" while it may seem easier in the moment, there are many advantages to having a website.

The advantage to having a webpage of your own, like this one, is that it is freely accessible to pretty much anyone with internet access.  You can also preserve your website for generations to come, using the "Internet Archive Wayback Machine" to ensure that your work is never lost to time. With sites like Facebook, all of your information could be completely wiped out one morning, and you would have no idea why!
